Now, Chennaiites create a website-making record
Chennaiites have made a mark in several fields like sports, music and food. Now, four men from the city and four others from Tumkur, Karnataka, have entered the Limca Book of Records for making 21 websites in 12 hours and 51 minutes.
Talking about the efforts they had to put in to set the record, Mohit Jain from Chennai, who led the team says, “I am a school drop out and developed an interest in web designing. I first got a hang of it and created my own website using concerns that allow one to design and host their sites for free. Later, at the age of 15, I designed a website in support of Anna Hazare's anti-corruption campaign, which got noticed and even got featured in The Times of India.“
Though his father realized his interest in web designing and got him to enrol for a pri vate course in it, Mohit says he couldn't complete it because of his family's financial constraints.
“I had to quit the course I was doing in Bangalore. However, I managed to create a website for a wedding planner from Rajasthan. The idea to create a record struck me after meeting Prathik Jain from Tumkur, on a social networking site.“
S Padmanaban, Vikesh Lodha and Arunachalam, three IT professionals, are the other Chennaiites who joined Mohit in setting the record.
According to Padmanaban the whole idea was to create websites at a cheaper rate. He says, “We provide a website for `1,008.This amount is used to buy domain and hosting to create a website.“ Vikesh adds, “Our motto itself is Har Aadmi Online @ Aam Aadmi Price.“ Ask them about further plans and Arunachalam replies, “We are looking forward to support Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Digital India Initiative and in the process of figuring out what can be done from our end.“
